New England Patriots Bestow Honor on Waltham Coach

Former Patriots player Andre Tippett presented the award at the high school on Nov. 19.

The New England Patriots have named Waltham High School Football Coach John Bourque its coach of the week.

The honor comes on the heels of the Hawks defeating Lincoln-Sudbury 34-7 in a Nov. 15 game at Leary Field. Former Patriots player Andre Tippett visited the high school to present the award on Nov. 19.

“Congratulations to Coach John Bourque and his team,” Tippett said in a press release. “Waltham played dominating football in the second half of this game, scoring 27 unanswered points to pull away from Lincoln-Sudbury and win the Division 2 North championship. This was a great win for the Hawks.”

The team's charitable foundation will donate $1,000 to the school's football program. The award will be featured on the "Patriots All Access," on Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. on WBZ-TV.
