How You Can Help Waltham This Weekend

Here are several events at which you can volunteer to make Waltham a better place to live.

Saturday, April 21

• The Earth Day Weed Pull Trail Day will be held from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. at the . Volunteers will be removing garlic mustard weed and building the next part of the Western Greenway. Volunteers can bring water, gloves and tools. The Waltham Land Trust, Brandeis University, The Friends of Stonehurst and Conservation Commission are sponsoring the event, according to a notice from the Waltham Land Trust. 
• The state Department of Conservation and Receration will host its 6th annual Park Serve day to clean up the Waltham part of the Charles River Walk. DCR staff and volunteers will remove litter and unwanted items from the area, according to the DCR's press release. The event starts at 9 a.m. behind the Shaw's on River Street and ends at 1 p.m. Sign up at the event Web site.  Gloves and work tools will be provided, but participants can still bring their own. Participants should also put their name and phone number on any of their property. They are also advised to wear work shoes and sunscreen. Water will also be provided.
