Help Clean up Waltham Part of Charles River Park

The event starts at 9 a.m.

On Saturday, April 21, the state Department of Conservation and Receration will host its 6th annual Park Serve day, in part to clean up the Waltham part of the Charles River Walk.

The event, held at various locations statewide, will have DCR staff and volunteers pick up litter and unwanted items from various state parks and beaches, according to the DCR's press release.

The Waltham event starts at 9 a.m. behind the Shaw's on River Street and ends at 1 p.m. Sign up at the event Web site.

More than 3,000 people volunteered at 53 parks last year.

DCR staff will provide gloves and work gear, but participants can still bring their own gloves or hand tools. Participants are also enocuraged to put their name and phone number on any of their property. They are also advised to wear work shoes and sunscreen. Water will also be provided.
