Hearing for Waltham Police Chief Tuesday; Acting Chief Could Stay A While

Waltham Police Chief Thomas LaCroix is scheduled to appear in Concord District Court Tuesday to face multiple charges.

As Waltham Police Chief Thomas LaCroix heads to a court hearing scheduled for Tuesday, his temporary replacement could stay in place for up to six months, according to the Boston Globe.

Acting Police Chief Keith MacPherson could remain acting chief for three months from his appointment last week without having approval from the City Council, according to the Globe. He could then serve another three months without approval, Waltham Mayor Jeanette McCarthy told the Globe.

After six months, the City Council would have to approve a replacement, McCarthy told the Globe. McCarthy told the newspaper she is waiting for a resolution in the case before making a final decision.
