Alleged Waltham Carjacker Ordered Held Without Bail

Scott Steverding is scheduled for an Aug. 20 dangerousness hearing.

Scott Steverding, 30, of Waltham, was arraigned at on Aug. 16. The dangerousness hearing is scheduled for Aug. 20

Steverding, who appeared tired during the court hearing, faces charges of armed carjacking, assault with a dangerous weapon and attempted murder. He also faces a separate charge of unarmed robbery, but stemming from a separate incident on Aug. 13.

During the court hearing, Judge Gregory Flynn appointed an attorney to represent Steverding. That attorney said Steverding is addicted to heroin. 

Cambridge Police arrested Steverding on Aug. 16 after finding him asleep, Waltham Police said in a tweet. believe Steverding carjacked on Aug. 14 in the parking lot of the on Harvard Street. Steverding allegedly threatened the victim with a needle he said was filled with HIV-tained blood.
