On Saturday, June 18th, 2011, while on his way to the Bruins Parade, 14 year old Michael (Mikey) Murphy suffered a cardiac arrest and was initially in a coma in the ICU at Children's Hospital. He has since emerged from the coma and remains in a vegetative state. After multiple tests, in an effort to explain this unexpected event, doctors are at a loss for explanation. Mikey is a fun-loving, healthy, athletic 14 year old boy with no history of health related problems. The doctors have diagnosed Mikey with brain damage due to lack of oxygen to his brain as a result of heart failure. Mikey has since transferred to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston.

As there is little we can to do assure Mikey's recovery, the families and surrounding communities are coming together to assist in any way we can. We are holding a fundraiser on Friday, August 26th at the Sons of Italy in Waltham.

His family is struggling to come to terms with this unexplained tragedy and has not left Mikey's bedside. Mikey's parents, Michael P. Murphy, Jr and Cindy (Partridge) Murphy both grew up in Waltham.

Come and enjoy an adult night out to help raise money for Mikey and his family. Music, Food, Raffles & Silent Auction.

Tickets are limited, so please order as soon as possible.

Please make checks payable to "Michael C. Murphy Charitable Account" and send to Team Mikey, c/o Jen Thibodeau, 5 Cedarcroft Lane, Waltham 02451

Thank you for providing the information on how to make a donation. I will not be able to attend but I will be happy to make a contribution. The picture is adorable and I hope and pray for another picture such as this one when Mikey next poses for it. And he will ! Fay from Worcester

You are welcome and thank you. This has to be one of the hardest things our family has gone through and my brother is a saint. He stays by his sons side and calms him when he is upset and speaks to him constantly hoping for something, anything...Thank you again

I cannot even imagine what ya'll are going through. I did see your brother on the news, and he did wonderful while trying to contain his tears. The love was evident. Mikey's story just hit me, and well, as they say.... "It's in the mail...." Continued prayers and positive thoughts for you and your entire family, and of course, Mikey! Fay from Worcester
