Falchuk, Independent Candidate for Governor, Announces Launch of College Clubs in Western Mass., The Cape and Boston

BOSTON – Evan Falchuk, United Independent candidate for Governor of Mass., announced today that students at five Massachusetts universities have formed clubs for the United Independent movement on their campuses, and have formal processes underway for registering local chapters. Several additional United Independent college clubs are also underway at universities throughout Mass.

Universities already on board include Northeastern University, Suffolk University Law School, UMass Amherst, The Massachusetts Maritime Academy, and Suffolk University.

In January of this year, Falchuk and a group of supporters from throughout the Commonwealth earned “political designation” status from Massachusetts for the United Independent movement, focused on fiscally sensible solutions and pragmatically progressive ideas. Falchuk, whose statewide, independent campaign for Governor is growing each day, is confident that his race for Governor will earn well over three percent of votes on election day (Nov. 4, 2014); once that three percent threshold is reached, United Independent will become an official Party in Mass. and may run independent candidates for political office in races throughout the state.

Over half (53%) of Massachusetts voters are Independents – voters registered as “unenrolleds” who choose not to be tied to either the Democratic or Republican parties. A growing number of college and graduate students, dissatisfied by the partisan infighting and lack of options in the two-party system, are among voters choosing to go the Independent route. “This is the new mainstream in American politics, and it’s growing among younger voters,” according to The Wall Street Journal

“The growing involvement of young voters has been so helpful in our statewide campaign,” Falchuk noted. “Millennials want to be more engaged in the politics that affect their daily lives, but they also want more options outside of traditional Democratic and Republican candidates. They believe in our focus, and in our call to shift the whole political dialogue away from ‘left-versus-right’ arguing toward pragmatic ideas and solutions. Their involvement in the United Independent movement and in my ongoing campaign for Governor will make a huge difference.”
