BOSTON – Evan Falchuk, declared candidate for the Governor of Massachusetts 2014 race (www.Falchuk2014.org), has been named by Independent Voter Network (IVN) to its national list of Ten Influential Politicians in the Independent Movement to Watch. The list, which includes Senators Angus King and Susan Collins from Maine, former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura, and Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, features politicians dedicated to countering partisan politics who are recognized allies of an increasingly prominent national independent voter base.

“Falchuk is running on a platform of socially progressive and fiscally sensible solutions, and calls for a ‘functioning, multiparty democracy,” IVN reports. “Funding job training programs, antipoverty relations measures and public health issues are among core issues he hopes to tackle, but his first action, should he be elected, will be to change Massachusetts campaign finance laws, which grossly favor the two party system.”

The United Independent (UI) movement in Massachusetts, founded by Falchuk and a group of supporters throughout the Commonwealth, earned its political designation in January of this year. Falchuk and UI supporters are committed to socially progressive ideas and fiscally sensible solutions –a pragmatic combination Falchuk believes the majority of voters in Massachusetts favor.

Since declaring his candidacy for Governor in February 2013, Falchuk has gathered a full-time campaign team of six, a growing number of volunteers of all political stripes, and a considerable amount of press coverage statewide.

“Given that 53 percent of Massachusetts’ registered voters choose to be independents, we believe we’re tapping into to a real desire among voters for innovative ideas and common sense solutions over partisan sound bites and empty rhetoric,” Falchuk said. “It’s exciting and rewarding to get to work with voters around the state on both my campaign for Governor, and in work to establish United Independent as an official party on Election Day 2014.”
