Waltham City Council Vs. the US Congress – Which is worse?
Hint: At least the US Congress has specific time limits for how long the “big mouths” can grandstand and rant-on at official meetings. (Anyone here ever watch a Waltham City Council meeting?)
We’re now just four weeks from our Waltham elections on Tuesday Nov 5th and therefore a its good time examine how our Waltham City Councilors operate (or flounder). Consider this week’s council meeting where two separate councilors brought forth these two proposals: a) Change council meeting start time from 8 to 7 pm and b) Have the Council also meet in July & August in order to expedite the handling of City business - http://www.wickedlocal.com/waltham/news/x574278107/Waltham-council-committee-OKs-meeting-start-time-change?zc_p=0
Good grief, examine the above link and draw your own conclusions. What catches my attention are the names of the councilors who voted against both measures: Joe Giordano, W7, 14 years in office), Steve Rourke (W8, 10+ years), Bob Logan (W9, 20+ years) and Ed Tarallo (at-large, 12+ years, retiring this year).

C’mon now, what’s so difficult about setting time limits at the city council meetings so that the “big mouths” can’t grandstand and rant-on past midnight?
