Waltham Residents to star in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS

MOONSTRUCK THEATER COMPANY, in association with Amazing Things Art Center of Framingham, is pleased to present the Tony Award-winning musical Little Shop of Horrors, opening Friday, October 18, and running for seven performances through October 27. Performances will take place at Amazing Things Art Center, 160 Hollis St., Framingham, MA.

Little Shop of Horrors tells the tale of Seymour Krelborn, a floral assistant on Skid Row who purchases an exotic plant with a shocking secret. As Seymour leverages his newfound fame to woo his lovely coworker, Audrey, he also battles for control over the increasingly persistent perennial. This hilarious show is a both a loving send up of 1950s B-movies and a cautionary tale about the power of greed. Immortalized on film by Ellen Greene and Rick Moranis, with music by Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Newsies) and book & lyrics by Howard Ashman, Little Shop of Horrors is a theatrical experience like no other--just in time for Halloween!

Little Shop of Horrors features Waltham residents Amanda Potts as Audrey, a kind-hearted girl trapped in a sleazy world, and the object of Seymour’s attention, and Mike Ericson, the Audrey II puppeteer.

Amanda Potts makes her Moonstruck Theater Company debut in this production. “Audrey has always been a dream role,” says Potts, “I am so excited, not only to have the opportunity to play this part, but also to get to know the wonderful people in Moonstruck Theater Company.” Potts, who has been involved in theater since high school, has played such notable roles as Belle in Beauty and the Beast and Hedy LaRue in How To Succeed…, but thinks that this show has something special about it. “Killer plant from space? Need I say more? This show is a perfect treat for Halloween.” Amanda spends her days as a music teacher in Burlington, MA.

Mike Ericson is no stranger to Moonstruck audiences, having participated in four previous productions. This fifth foray is something special for him: “Little Shop of Horrors is unabashedly and hilariously ridiculous; it pulls no punches in presenting the twisted story of a man, a woman, and a plant,” he says, “and, of course, I was intrigued by the challenge of operating Audrey II.” Ericson has been active in the local theater community since 2010, during which he was dance partner to Moonstruck Theater Company's founder, Caroline Fonseca, in a production of Carousel by the Weston Friendly Society. Mike works a researcher, building prototype systems for MIT Lincoln Laboratory.
