Waltham resident to star in OUR TOWN

MOONSTRUCK THEATER COMPANY, in association with Amazing Things Art Center of Framingham, is pleased to present the classic American play OUR TOWN, opening Friday, March 14, and running for seven performances through Sunday, March 23.

This Pulitzer Prize-winning play is Thornton Wilder’s most frequently performed work. Set in the early 20th century in the fictional town of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, the play explores the beauty of love, marriage, family and the everyday precious moments that may be taken for granted. Our Town, known for its minimalistic use of set and props, has the Stage Manager narrate the love story of George Gibbs and Emily Webb. As the couple moves through life we are reminded of how important it is to stop and take time to appreciate the significance in the simplest of moments.

The production features 14 performers from the Boston and MetroWest regions, including Waltham resident Mike Ericson in the dual roles of Howie Newsome and Joe Stoddard. Ericson is no stranger to Moonstruck audiences, having participated in five previous productions.

This sixth foray is something special for him: “This show creates a direct relationship between the narrator and the audience and allows them to feel like participants rather than merely spectators of the story,” Ericson says, “Go see it to get a feel for what life was like in New England a hundred years ago and to gain an appreciation of aspects of human nature that never change.”

Ericson has been active in the local theater community since 2010, during which he was dance partner to Moonstruck Theater Company's founder, Caroline Fonseca, in a production of Carousel by the Weston Friendly Society. Mike works a researcher, building prototype systems for MIT Lincoln Laboratory.
