Snowstorm Could Dump a Foot of Snow on Waltham This Weekend

Forecasters say we could get 8-12 inches of snow.

Once again, the snow is melting. But once again, don't put the shovels away: the weekend could bring more snow.

A new snowstorm is headed our way for Saturday and Sunday, forecasters say, and Waltham could see up to 12 inches of new snow before it's done.

On his blog, WHDH meteorologist Pete Bouchard is calling for light rain along the coast Saturday with snow inland and snow across the region by Sunday morning.

"Heavy snow through early morning Sunday. Roads will be tough to travel, and yes, your flight will most likely be delayed or cancelled. (Although I don't run an airline, so I'll let them have the final word.)," Bouchard writes.

As of now, forecasts call for 8 to 12 inches of new snow in the towns just inside of Rte. 128.

Hopefully the streets will get plowed and the schools will get plowed out in time for school. The city should be working nonstop to remove snow piles like surrounding towns.

I don't see progress. Still many snow piles and still snow along the sides of many streets which should have been removed:)

Plows did not work nonstop during Nemo. Not a sound was heard from 2:00 a.m. until daylight aside from wind. I was not sleeping.

Laurie I had plows going by non stop on my street and Main roads from 2PM Friday through 4PM Saturday. When snow falls at 2-4" per hour you can't keep up with it. Other towns even Watertown and Newton feel behind during the heart of the storm.

I can't wait till the meeting Where Chaison tells everyone the truth that the mayor has micromanaged his department and cut the funds. The city is currently spending $995 a month to rent a budget truck for the water & sewer dept because the mayor won't but a new truck. They have rented the truck for 3 Months now and have spent nearly $3,000.

Not to worry. There is enough money in the city budget to buy two more snowblowers at Sears, and the promise from City Hall is that the sidewalks will be clear by Memorial Day!

The Mayor does not care about winter clean up all see cares about these days is trying to get the chief of police investigated for $10,000 where she could be spending the money wisely and give more money to the street dept for snow removal. The best Mayor Waltham has ever seen in my time and I was born in Waltham was Mayor Stanley. So do not hold your breath expecting the snow to be removed promptly.
