Walden Names Reider Director of Nursing, Assistant Vice President of Patient Care Services

WALTHAM, Mass., Oct. 21, 2013 – Walden Behavioral Care, LLC, one of the country’s leading hospitals for treating eating disorders, announced  today that Stephen E. Reider, R.N. of Jaffrey, N.H., has been named Director of Nursing and Assistant Vice President of Patient Care Services.

Reider is responsible for providing 24-hour accountability for the administrative and clinical operations of Walden’s psychiatric and eating disorder units.  In addition, he is responsible for financial management, strategic goal planning, human resource management, and departmental and interpersonal communications.

He comes to Walden from Day Kimball Healthcare, Putnam, Conn., where he was the Director of Behavioral Health Services.  Previously, he was the Director of the Center for Psychiatry at Vanguard Health Systems/St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Mass.

Earlier in his career, he was a Nurse Manager for Caritas Norwood Hospital and a Clinical Manager for the Center for Behavioral Medicine at Caritas Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, Mass.

Reider earned a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Oswego and an associate’s degree in nursing from St. Elizabeth’s College of Nursing, Utica, N.Y.  He earned his MBA from Rivier College, Nashua, N.H. and is a candidate for a master’s degree in nursing administration and leadership from St. Joseph’s College, Standish, Maine.  He holds certifications and licenses for basic cardiac life support, basic cardiac care and non-abusive psychological and physical intervention.
