What Should Go Into Empty Waltham Storefront?

560 Moody St. is currently empty and is ripe for a new use.

While there are many restaurants in Waltham, occassionally they close for any number of reasons, as was the case with Gemelli Ristorante.

For this week's Visions For Vacancies, we are at its former 560 Moody St. location, which remains empty.

It's upper Moody Street location is accessible by bus, walking, bicycling or vehicle. On-street parking is available at metered spaces as well as side-street parking.

A prior real estate listing said the building is 2,200 square feet on a 2,300 square foot lot. It has two bathrooms and a full basement in addition to the restaurant space. Zoning regulaitons indicate it could be used as a retail store, tatto parlor or even a church, among other users, according to city regulations.

What would you like to see move into the space? Leave your thoughts and comments below.

Well we do not need another eatery of any kind. What we need is recreation. Waltham needs a place where kids, adults even can go and have fun. How about a bowling alley/arcade. We do not even have a normal movie theater! Just a thought...

I love the idea of a bowling alley. I completely agree that Waltham needs more activity.

Dave and Busters? Kids can have fun during the day and adults can have fun at night... This place might be a little small though.

Sounds like their is 2,200 up and 2,200 in basement. could add a sports bar area for adults while the kids bowl.

How about an arts and crafts store that would do classes for both kids and adults? The basement space could be fixed up for classroom and the top could be retail.

I like all of these ideas. If it were up to me, there would an independent coffee house that remained open until at least 10 p.m.

Why are you asking us....? Only Robert Logan can make those decisions.

Actually, that is not correct. Logan represents lower Moody Street. Also, City Councilors do not have final say on which tenant goes in that space.

Moody definitely needs a full service pharmacy and a regular coffee shop.

Hi Susan, A pharmacy sounds great because currently I can go to a Tedeschi's-type store for late night food needs, but I can't get health supplies there!

I agree about the eatery issue; bowling, shuffleboard, skeeball and a special real board games (not virtual) room with cafe for healthy and not-so-healthy foods and beverages would be great, but alcohol-free! Us grownups need a place, too! If such an addition is realized, certain times for families with kids; singles; senior citizens as well! Keep ideas coming!!
