Waltham Bar Drops 'Raven' Name, For Now

A Waltham bar has temporarily altered its name in preparation for the Patriots game.

In response to customer gripes, The Mad Raven on Main Street in Waltham has dropped "raven" from its name and replaced it with "Patriot," according to the Boston Herald.

The move comes days before the New England Patriots are set to play the Baltimore Ravens for the AFC championship on Sunday, Jan. 20.

Mad Raven owner Mark McAuliffe told the Herald he changed the bar's sign on Monday, Jan. 14 after hearing customers say they would not enter the building until game day. McAuliffe made a similar move for another bar he owns in Walpole, miles from Gillette Stadium. He told the Herald he believes that boosted business at the Walpole bar.
