New Bank Planned for Main Street in Waltham

The bank would be located in the Prospector building.

If all goes according to plan, a new bank will be replace the Prospector building at 749-751 Main St.

TD Bank has filed plans to tear down the Prospector building and construct a new building to house a new bank location, according to Waltham Traffic Engineer J. Michael Garvin.

Currently, plans call for the bank to have two drive-thru lanes and two driveways, according to Garvin. The driveways would be located on Main Street and Exchange Street, he said.

The Waltham City Council would have to approve special permits for the drive-thru lanes. However, the bank could be built without the lanes.

The Traffic Commission has accepted the developer's traffic study and has forwarded it to the City Council. That means the studied was done in accordance with traffic standards and does not indicate the commission agrees with the study, Garvin said.
