The planned Market Basket is proceeding, according to Waltham Mayor Jeannette McCarthy.

"Bottom line is, they are proceeding," McCarthy said late Friday afternoon.

The news comes after an internal struggle with Market Basket caused a delay in progress for the sire to be located at the former Polaroid site at 1265 Main St.

"Great news!," McCarthy exclaimed.

McCarthy said she does not know whether the lease was signed, but a Market Basket Board of Directors Web site, updated on Jan. 9, said the company had authorized the signing.

It's unclear when the store will open.

A Starbucks, Marshall's, TD Bank and Verizon store are all planned for the site.

They need to wrap this up already, the anticipation is killing me. Let's hope that it's ready by Q2 of 2014...

If Market Basket opening is the highlight of your springtime, it's either time to find a hobby, or time to seek professional help!

What Waltham really needs, an the city should open it, is a nice bakery on Moody St. that way, after I hunt for parking space, finally find one, step over the empty vodka bottles and trash. Get a nice meal at Shoppers or maybe Tempo. Get a great haircut at Los Primos, pick up a new vibrator, get a little something at one of the "discount stores", maybe get another drink, avoid a couple of bums, get a "movie" at the other adult store, I can get a cake. Return to my car to find more broken bottles and trash, to find a parking ticket. But don't worry, there is a trash can three blocks away that is emptied every other Tuesday and the ticket is not about "revenue", it's about something that no one can define.......

JohnnyMass: I never said that it was going to be the highlight of my springtime but it would definitely be nice to shop there instead of having to drive to the one out in Burlington... Don't be an ass
