Is Waltham Getting Another Tedeschi Store?

Do you want another Tedeschi store in Waltham?

It appears as though Waltham will soon be home to another Tedeschi's conveinience store.

According to city records, Tedeschi has been issued a building permit for 131 Lexington St., the site of the former Hollywood Video. Also, that same permit record appeared in the window of the site on Wednesday, Dec. 5.

This would be the city's third Tedeschi. Two other locations are on Moody Street and High Street.

Oh how wonderful, at least it isn't another bank. However, one more place for the local criminals and degenerates to hang out and panhandle at. It is close to the liquor store....

Sounds like the City is bringing quality back to Waltham! Not! Wish someone could bring Waltham back to it's glory days of the early 1900's.....so said it's come down to Conveinience Stores and Dollar stores, and crappy restaurants. Well minus, the Naked Fish....that is good food, kinda pricey, but nice for the occasional date night out. Maybe the town is just looking for another place to add a lotto machine, and hoping for a big Powerball winner for Waltham in the future.......

How about a Honey Dew Donuts? It would be nice to have another donut shop besides that over rated monopoly like the one across the street. K-dog

What would you like to see in Waltham, Gordon? Let's work to make it happen.

Why isn't there any Honey Dew shops in the area? Honey Dew would be great, as I sip my coffee from Dunkins because it's convenient and there's not really any choices. Honey Dew has great coffee, more variety and it's a local company also. But that would be one more store for Dunkins to take over in the future, as they have taken so many of the independently owned shops.

Not that we need another store like that, but at least it's better than an empty abandoned building. Isn't there a convenience store right across the street next to Demo's? That store will suffer if Tedeschi's goes in as their signs will be more visible and people recognize the name. Whatever happened to the convenience stores Christy's Market, were they bought by 7-11

Oooh good. I hope they take EBT so I can buy my cigarettes before I go out drinking all day while the responsible people work.

Tedeschi's? Wonderful, another place for all the illegal immigrants/non workers to use their ebt cards and drug dealers to hang outside all day. But wait, it will pretty much neighbor the Waltham Police Department so the arrest blogs should start increasing significantly once this unemployment hangout spot gets set up. Nevermind, it's Waltham PD. Maybe we could put a tutoring center there instead? How about a small business?

how can someone who finds Naked Fish pricey reliably identify a good restaurant. Waltham has a number of them owned independently, not a chain like Naked Fish. How about La Campania, Il Capricio, Tuscan Grill, Habenero's, Charcoal Guido's, Tempo?
TheHam December 06, 2012 at 06:06 PM
Gordon B, don't mind ignorant Alice H. Don't feel ashamed for not finding Naked Fish to be affordable the way Alice H does. I've had to remind her repeatedly, but I'll do it again: Hey Alice H- (for the second time)You're very childish and I feel sorry for you. Even my 5 year old doesn't bark at someone with a different financial outlook as you, but that's because he was raised to have strong convictions and not attack those with different views. My son could teach you a few things...

Let's just hope the city stays on top of them and makes sure that the property doesn't become an eyesore inside and out a few-plus years from now. Let's also hope that the owners and WPD have a zero-tolerance for loitering in and around the parking lot. Let's face it. Somebody will always have a problem about the type of businesses that move into our town. We should be more concerned about the vacant properties in the town. It's nice to have variety but vacant buildings are much more detrimental than too many of the same type of businesses. Just my opinion.

All of the restaurants named above hire those illegal immigrants that you so quickly jump on!!!!
Alice H December 06, 2012 at 07:28 PM
Ah, TheHam, self-appointed defender on the Patch, unless of course you do not look like him or speak his language--because then he will immediately label you as an illegal immigrant and treat you like dirt.
Alice H December 06, 2012 at 07:49 PM
Catch - What is your actual proof that these restaurants hire illegal aliens? Or do you think that anyone who looks or talks differently than you is an illegal alien? Do you suppose that some workers from other countries have green cards? Or have gotten their citizenship?
Joseph G. Paquette December 06, 2012 at 09:59 PM
The really sad part of many of the above comments expressed is that when several expressed concerns over the loss of another business which wanted to come into our city. A call was put out asking for citizen involvement to be instrumental in the decision process from the inside. Guess what? Not a single response! A second request went out again. Again Not a single response! Lots of free speech being exercised on a variety of issues, but seems no willing to do the work to make a change!! Again... How Sad!! Waltham could use some changes to assist all its citizens!!

Alice, my 5 year old could teach you how to be an adult and my wife could teach you how to be a lady. Mrs, "Defender of Illegal Immigrants".

Rumor has it that In A Pickle wanted to take that spot but was rejected citing "too much traffic". It just goes to show you have to have a lot of money behind you or a few City Councilor's in your pocket. Demo's would never let another restaurant open so close and that little convenience store next door doesnt have the resources to fight. A Tedeschi's isnt needed and the little convenience store will soon be going out of business. Its a good thing that a store like Tedeschi's doesnt generate any traffic.
