How Should Waltham Develop Its Business Community?

A new report on how residents think Waltham's business community should be developed will be presented on Thursday.

The "Waltham Visions" report, conducted by the Waltham League of Women Voters, examines several parts of the Waltham community, including how the business community should be developed and whether Waltham residents are happy in their city, according to the LWV press release. 

"This report finds that the people of Waltham support business development in Waltham, but have different opinions about the type of business they support.  This is important because the character of those businesses will shape the character of the community," the press release reads. "Although there is remarkable consistency about other topics (traffic, friendliness, contentment, etc.) among the people who were interviewed, the differences related to business development are notable." 

The report will be presented to the public at 7 p.m. on Jan. 9 at the Waltham Public Library. A copy of it was delivered to Waltham Mayor Jeannette McCarthy in December, according to the LWV. 

The report was compiled through interview of 167 residents at eight different events, according to the LWV. The LWV plans to continue its project with more interview in 2014.
