Friendly's to Relaunch in Waltham Soon

The Friendly's in Waltham will relaunch of Aug. 29.

The Friendly’s restaurant on Lexington Street in Waltham will relaunch this week.

As part of the company’s turnaround efforts, the restaurant, located at 111 Lexington St. will officially relaunch on Aug. 29 with an event starting at 2 p.m., according to a company press release. The event is open to the public and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., children can get balloons and face painting. From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., customers can get free ice cream sundae cups.

Mayor Jeannette McCarthy, Friendly’s CEO Maguire  and Waltham Boys & Girls Club Operations Director Erica Fitch will be marking the occasion at the event.

The restaurant, which first opened in 1978, closed in July for interior and exterior renovations and made menu changes to include better quality ingredients. It reopened on July 26, according to a company spokesman. 

Until Sept. 4, the company will donate $1 from each ice cream sale to the Boys & Girls Cub.
