Will Panera Bread Get A Drive-Thru?
Panera Bread is planning a second Waltham location.
A Waltham City Council subcommittee has recommended councilors reject a drive-thru proposal for a planned second location of Panera Bread.
Waltham City Councilor Edmund Tarallo, during a Sept. 24 City Council meeting, said the company still plans build a new branch, but without the drive-thru at the Main Street Marketplace location. Panera Bread has requested a fast food permit, which would allow the restaurant to operate without the drive-thru, but it has not been approved.
The Ordinance and Rules Committee drive-thru recommendation comes after several residents and city councilors voiced concerns that a drive-thru would increase traffic and parking congestion on an already busy street.
