Help Clean Up The Charles River in Waltham and Newton

Volunteers are needed to pull invasive weeds from the river.

Want to help cleanup the Waltham and Newton portions of the Charles River?

The Charles River Watershed Association and  in Newton are seeking volunteers to help pull invasive weeds from the river, according to the group. Volunteers are needed for the following dates: Saturday, July 14, 12 p.m. – 4 p.m., Thursday, July 19, 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Saturday, July 21, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday, July 28, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The invasive weeds hinder boating and deprive the river's wildlife of oxygen, according to the CRWA.

Canoes, training and other equipment will be provided to volunteers, according to the CRWA. Local volunteer groups and other organizations will also be participating. 

Volunteers should meet at Charles River Canoe & Kayak at 2401 Commonwealth Ave. in Newton.
