Waltham residents won’t need to travel far to get spooked this weekend.
Gore Place will host a guided tour of the mansion featuring ghost stories today, Friday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. Actors dressed in period costumes will guide participants through the historic home of former Massachusetts Gov. Christopher Gore.
There are admission fees — 415 for adults, $10 for kids ages 6-12. Tours start at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.. Call 781-894-2798 for advance tickets.
“It's not scary. We had children as young as 10 and they enjoyed it,” said Gore Place spokesman Thom Roach. “There is nothing particiular gruesome aobut them.”
As to whether the mansion itself is haunted, that is anybody's guess, but Roach issued his belief.
“We’ve never really had evidence of it,” he said.
The mansion was built in 1806 and features Federal period design.
