New Playground Coming to Waltham Housing Complex

The playground is part of a larger Waltham project.

When it’s complete, some Waltham kids will have themselves to thank for the awesome design of their new playground.

On Tuesday, July 30, a group of Waltham children gathered to lay out the first designs for a new playground that will go on the grounds of the Prospect Hill Terrace housing community. The designs will be part of the final product, which is scheduled to be constructed on Sept. 17, according to a press release.

When finished, the playground will provide more than 175 kids from the Waltham Housing Authority with a safe place to play. Currently, a dilapidated playground made from old parts is available.

UnitedHealth Care, the Waltham Housing Authority, Bentley University, Brandeis University and KaBoom are partnering in the effort with students from both universities helping the kids.

The playground is part of a larger effort by the partners, including Bentley and Brandeis students, to open a new community center at the development in September, according to a Bentley University website post.
