The Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau (GBCVB) has announced the rebranding of Restaurant Week Boston as Dine Out Boston, debuting March 16-21 and March 23-28.
Dine Out Boston will feature a more flexible pricing and menu structure for diners. Instead of all restaurants offering a prix fixe three-course menu, dining out enthusiasts will be able to select from a wide range of options such as multi-course tasting menus and individual plates boasting decadent ingredients and one-of-a-kind preparations. Dine Out Boston’s goal is to offer guests and restaurateurs a customizable dining experience coupled with significant savings.
This year, Solea Restaurant & Tapas Bar in Waltham is participating in Dine Out Boston.
BOSTON, MA (February 10, 2014)– The Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau (GBCVB) announced today the launch of Dine Out Boston - a new and refreshed approach for Restaurant Week Boston®. After 13 years of offering diners and restaurateurs a bi-annual opportunity to explore the city’s dining scene and bring new guests into its restaurants, the GBCVB and American Express, a founding partner, are proud to introduce the future of value-driven dining to Boston and celebrate the city as one of America’s premier culinary destinations. Debuting in March 2014, Dine Out Boston will be held March 16-21 and March 23-28.
Beyond a new look and name, Dine Out Boston will also feature a more flexible pricing structure for restaurant owners and guests, alike. At lunch and dinner, restaurants will now have the option to customize their menus by choosing to offer lunch for $15, $20 or $25 and dinner for $28, $33 or $38. Additionally, restaurants are no longer restricted to a prix fixe, three-course menu and can offer as many courses as they desire at their chosen price. Dining out enthusiasts will be able to select from a wide range of options such as multi-course tasting menus and individual plates boasting decadent ingredients and one-of-a-kind preparations. Dine Out Boston’s goal is to offer guests and restaurateurs a customizable dining experience coupled with significant savings.
“After speaking with restaurant owners, diners, and the Convention & Visitors Bureaus in other major cities, we made the decision to restructure the pricing and course requirements traditionally associated with restaurant week offers,” said Patrick Moscaritolo, President and CEO of the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Dining is a destination of its own and we’re confident that these changes will whet the public’s appetite for a new type of value dining experience.”
In an effort to expand on Restaurant Week Boston’s long-standing tradition of celebrating the region’s dedicated creators of fine food and drinks, Dine Out Boston has signed up a number of exceptional restaurants in the Greater Boston area, including but not limited to, city staples such as Mistral, Capital Grille, Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse, Scampo, and Rialto, as well as must-try favorites like 80 Thoreau in Concord, La Morra in Brookline, and Chiara in Westwood.
Since 2008, the GBCVB and American Express have used this dining program to give back to a different local Boston charity each year. Gift certificates donated by participating restaurants are auctioned off online, with the net proceeds benefitting the designated charity. To date, over $285,000 has been raised for charity through the GBCVB’s auction and partnership with American Express. The charitable partner for Dine Out Boston 2014 is The Freedom Trail Foundation, celebrating 50 years of this iconic walk to freedom.
This year, DineOutBoston.com will operate as the official online destination for details regarding Dine Out Boston. The easy-to-navigate website will allow diners to view the chef-customized menu offerings and pricing of all participating restaurants in advance of making reservations. DineOutBoston.com will be the city’s go-to site for all things related to the Dine Out Boston program.
