Regan Insurance Hosts a Glimpse of Waltham’s Past

Yesterday, Regan Insurance Agency hosted its annual postcard show at its office located on Hammond Street in the former Waltham Highlands Train Depot. At the show, guests enjoyed over a thousand historic postcards of Waltham. Attendees were able to look through the books of postcards which were organized into various categories such as Main Street, Moody Street, Watch City Factory, Charles River, churches, schools, public buildings, and more. Amongst the display of postcards was a Waltham Watch collection donated by Randy Leblanc of Leblanc Mechanical.

Neighbors and guests shared their experiences in a video diary of the office’s historic past. Bob Connors, a local attorney, spoke about his experience taking the train, explaining, “I would come running down here because I was always, always late for the train. It was a Buddliner and the people on the train always knew that this kid would be running down the street down Elson Road. They were always looking out yelling, ‘go, go, go!’ I used to take the train into Boston every day and then I would take the train home at night from North Station.” It is a fantastic experience to hear all of the stories of the station’s past.

If you would like to see some of the postcards displayed at the show, please visit our website at www.walthamhistory.com as we upload new postcards every week!
