McKenna Publishes Article in International Journal of Inclusive Education

St John's University Assistant Professor of Special Education John McKenna Ph.D., University of Texas at Austin Educational Psychology student Colin Muething, and Department of Special Education and Meadows Center for Educational Risk faculty Andrea Flower, Diane P. Bryant and Brian Bryant have co-authored an article, “Use and relationships among effective practices in co-taught inclusive high school classrooms” published in the International Journal of Inclusive Education. In the study, the authors evaluated relationships between praise, opportunities to respond (OTR), on-task behavior, and class engagement in inclusive high school classrooms. Overall, few significant relationships were found and praise and OTR were infrequent. The results of the study indicated low levels of teacher use of OTR and praise statements and few significant relationships were found between the variables examined in the study.
