Community Corner

McDevitt National Junior Honor Society

The McDevitt chapter of the National Junior Honor Society is comprised of thirty eighth grade students who represent excellence in leadership, service, character, scholarship, and citizenship. These students were selected from a pool of applicants and had to meet the 3.0 minimum GPA requirement as well as receive high recommendation scores from their present and former middle school teachers. The goal of the organization is to provide these students with the opportunity to give back to their school and their community. In the short time these eighth graders have been members of the National Junior Honor Society they have already contributed greatly to many Waltham families. During November and December the students hosted a canned food drive at McDevitt and were able to donate more than 1500 non-perishable items to the Sacred Heart Food Pantry. As the school year continues the students will be hosting more community and school service events to benefit the school and city.  Thank you to the advisors, Samantha Lesperance and Jaime Gaudor.  Come to Guidos to support the McDevitt NJHS.
