Great Summer Children's Theater Opportunity

The Brookline SmartSummers Theater Arts Program celebrates its 10th summer in July.
Each summer, more than 100 students join for one-six weeks for a unique theater experience. Taught by Brookline public school teachers and local professional artists, actors and musicians, the program allows students to explore the arts in a fun, developmentally appropriate setting.
In addition to taking classes in music, art, acting and dance, students work together to create an original musical at the end of each session. Each summer there is a new theme, such as Shakespeare, Shel Silverstein poems or Board Games. This summer, the musical is based on monster stories. In recent years the program has added a part day program for 5- to 7-year-olds called Playful Performances.
In addition to the final performances, there are bi-weekly Talent Shows. Special events, such as a magician workshop, swimming and family sing-alongs, are also highlights of the programming. Based in the Lincoln School auditorium and surrounding classrooms, the program offers a perfect chance for students to experience the arts firsthand.
