Community Service Opportunities for Girls

Newton Assembly is a youth group for girls ages 11 to 20 that is based in Newton, MA with members from many surrounding towns.  Our goal is to teach leadership, teamwork, and self-confidence through service to the community.   In Massachusetts, there are 26 communities with Rainbow assemblies, all willing to perform service for others.  Our state-wide service project for 2013-2014 is to support the Greater Boston Food Bank as well as local food pantries.

In the past year, our girls have supported many other organizations including The Second Step, Operation American Soldier and The Lowell Folk Festival.  The girls have also participated in events for the City of Waltham including, Neighbor Day, Waltham Day, the 4th of July celebrations and by building a garden at one of the elementary schools.  In Newton, the girls are regular participants in Newton Serves Day.  The girls are always collecting soda can tabs to support the Shriners' Hospitals in Springfield and Boston.  All of our service projects are planned and run by the girls.
