DESCRIPTION:Waltham Concerned Citizens (WCC) will sponsor a vigil to comm
 emorate the 67th anniversary of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki o
 n Monday\, August 6\, from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m.\, at the corner of Main and
  Moody Streets on Waltham Common.\nThe first nuclear bomb was dropped on
  Hiroshima at 8:16 a.m. on August 6\, 1945. Three days later\, another a
 tomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. The civilian death toll was 140\,000
  people in Hiroshima and 70\,000 in Nagasaki.\nWaltham Concerned Citizen
 s was founded in 1981 to work for peace and justice. Its initial focus w
 as on a nuclear weapons freeze. WCC has also sponsored programs and acti
 vities that have addressed other issues\, including U.S. intervention in
  Iraq\, Central America\, Afghanistan and the Middle East\; affordable h
 ousing\; civil liberties\; the environment\; and the recent war on terro
 rism.&nbsp\;\nThis event is free\, wheelchair-accessible and open to the
  public.
