DESCRIPTION:128 Business Council will hold a forum headlined by Massachus
 etts Secretary of Transportation Richard Davey and local business and el
 ected officials on February 26\, 2013 at the&nbsp\;Forefront Center for 
 Meetings\, located at 404 Wyman Street in Waltham from 8:30AM to 10AM.&n
 bsp\;&nbsp\; The purpose of the forum is to hear Secretary Davey discuss
  Governor Patrick&rsquo\;s transportation plan\,"The Way Forward: A 21st
  Century Transportation Plan" and the impact of the plan and other MassD
 OT initiatives on improving mobility and congestion on Route 128.&nbsp\;
 \n&ldquo\;We are very excited to meet with the Secretary to hear about t
 he Commonwealth&rsquo\;s plans to improve transportation options for the
  Route 128 Corridor\, which represents a key economic and employment eng
 ine for Massachusetts\,&rdquo\; said Monica G. Tibbits-Nutt\, Executive 
 Director of128 Business Council.&nbsp\; &ldquo\;We know that the targete
 d infrastructure improvements are essential for this region to meet its 
 full potential as a source of employment and educational opportunities w
 hile improving air quality and quality of life for all of the impacted p
 arties.&nbsp\; We appreciate the Administration&rsquo\;s leadership in t
 rying to identify solutions for the future and look forward to facilitat
 ing a dialogue between the Secretary and key business leaders.&rdquo\;&n
 bsp\;\n128 Business Council has been operating privately funded shuttles
  along the Route 128 Corridor since 1987\, which also leverage federal a
 nd state grants.&nbsp\; Currently\, the service\, which runs from Needha
 m to Woburn\, includes a series of shuttles that connect major employers
 \, educational institutions and neighborhood communities to existing pub
 lic transit.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;The shuttles&nbsp\;provide more than 360\,000 
 rides annually that reduce the use of single&nbsp\;occupancy vehicles an
 d improves the flow of traffic and overall air quality.\n128 Business Co
 uncil also advocates community awareness of sustainable alternatives\, g
 reen building certification (LEED) and pro-environment practices to furt
 her enhance the health and vitality of our region and the Commonwealth o
 f Massachusetts.128 Business Council is also one of the Commonwealth&rsq
 uo\;s eleven Transportation Management Associations with a goal of incre
 asing ridesharing and the use of commuting alternatives.
