Two new faces won election to the School Committee last night, while the City Council gained one new member. Mayor Jeanette McCarthy was also reelected to a third term over her 22-year-old challenger. (See voting tallies) John Graceffa (3,498 votes) and Edmund Tarallo (2,737 votes), the son of City Councillor Ed Tarallo, both won seats on the school committee, while incumbent Margaret Donnelly (3,036 votes) won reelection. Voters thinned the field of city election candidates yesterday, but no incumbents were eliminated. And only 6.92 percent of registered voters cast ballots, according to election results. Albert Bakalis was eliminated from the Ward 8 City Council race, while David Matayabas was eliminated from the School Committee race.Balakis, in an e-mail to Pathc today, said "I wish both candidates all the luck as they continue on to November's election.
