Waltham State and Local Officials Come Out in Force for Joe Kearns Goodwin in State Senate Race

State Representative Tom Stanley, Former Mayor William Stanley and his wife Roberta Stanley, State Representative John Lawn, City Councilors Thomas Curtin, Gary Marchese, Daniel Romard as well as Former City Councilor Dave Marcou today endorsed Democrat Joe Kearns Goodwin as Waltham’s next voice in the State Senate.

The Stanley family, Lawn, Curtin, Marchese, Romard, Marcou and other community members, gathered in front of Waltham’s William F. Stanley Senior Center to announce that they had come to a unified decision that Goodwin’s real-world experience, commitment to service, and proven leadership ability make him the best candidate to fight for children, seniors, working families, and all Third Middlesex District residents in the State Senate—and actually get things done, even if it means breaking with Beacon Hill leadership to do so.

“At a time when special interests dominate the conversation on so many issues that impact our lives, Waltham needs a senator who will be an independent voice to stand up for the working families that make up the backbone of our city and serve us. That person is Joe Kearns Goodwin,” Representative Tom Stanley (D-Waltham). “As a Captain in the U.S. Army and leader in the clean energy industry, Joe has consistently delivered in situations in which failure is not an option. He has the experience and values to fight passionately everyday for our community. Joe is the candidate that we believe can help us fight for you at the State House and build a better Waltham.”

“Joe Kearns Goodwin is a next generation leader with a traditional perspective to public service—he is a son of this district, and is answering the call to give back. Joe is a Democrat who shares our values and understands Waltham’s unique needs. As a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, Joe knows how to succeed in high-pressure situations. Perhaps most importantly, Joe has proven he will be the strongest advocate for our middle and working class families on Beacon Hill,” said Former Mayor William Stanley.

“Joe is someone who will get the job done for our communities. He gets the challenges facing Waltham and really cares about people,” said Representative John Lawn. “I can tell you that Tom and I need a fighter like Joe to work with us in the State House. His experience has shown that he isn’t going to back down when the going gets tough.”

“Joe Kearns Goodwin has studied the complexity of the Fernald property and will work to protect the city of Waltham and its people,” said City Councilor Tom Curtin.

“We need energetic, compassionate and honest representatives who understand our needs and who have the ability to affect change for the greater good.  That’s why I’m excited to support Joe for State Senator.  He isn’t a political insider, and he has the experience and courage to be an effective advocate for Waltham in the Massachusetts State Senate”, said City Councilor Gary J. Marchese.

Tom and William Stanley, Lawn, Curtin, Marchese, Romard and Marcou are the latest to come to the consensus that Goodwin is the best candidate in the race for the state Senate in the Third Middlesex State Senate District. Goodwin has also been endorsed by U.S. Senator John F. Kerry, Vicki Kennedy, State Representative Cory Atkins, State Representative Charley Murphy, Newton Mayor Setti Warren, and City Year Co-Founder Alan Khazei.
