The market will be held in conjunction with the Watch City Festival, also known as the Steampunk Festival.
A spring farmers market will be held this weekend in Waltham, according to the Waltham Farmers Market Committee. The market will open at 9:30 a.m. at parking lot in the Sovereign Bank at 1 Moody St., according to announcement from the committee. It will close at 2 p.m. Plants, flowers and produce items will be available from various local vendors. Gluten-free baked goods as well as pie "cones, ice pops and kambucha tea will also be available. Along with cash, vendors accept credit and debit cards, as well as WIC and SNAP cards. The event will be held rain or shine.

The 4th annual Watch City Festival will be feature many events based on a Steampunk theme.
The Watch City Festival, also known as the Steampunk Festival, is returning to Waltham soon, according to it website. The 4th annual festival will be held May 10 - 11 throughout the city with many events being held on the city common. Events will include a parade on Saturday, a pub crawl and a circus. The festival's proceeds will benefit the Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation. The museum is sponsoring the event along with the City of Waltham. What is Steampunk?: "Steampunk is a literary and artistic movement that melds elements of Victorian-era history with modern technology and fantastical fiction," the website reads. The 26th annual sheepshearing festival will kick off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 27 at Gore Place. The event will feature crafts for sale, herding dogs, spinning and weaving and live music among other things. The event is $15 for adults, teenagers and senior citizens. Parking is free. No dogs or other pets are allowed at the event. The festival ends at 5 p.m.

Watch the 2013 Waltham High School lip dub!
Ready to to bust a move? Or call 867-5309? Or dance the Macarena? If so, check out the Waltham High School 2013 Lip Dub. Hundreds of students gatehered on Thursday, March 13 to record its third annual lip dub, according to television broadcasting teacher Chris Hazel. "It was a great success. Students and faculty alike were raving about it after we finished. It's a great school spirit event that unifies the student body and promotes a sense of community. I am extremely proud of the students in the Television Broadcasting Program who worked tirelessly for months to plan the event. Most notably the even co-chairs seniors Elaina DeAngelis and John Nash. If not for their efforts we do not succeed in pulling this off," Hazel said in an email.

Co-authors Scott Fayner and Bazaz recently published the ABCs of DOGs.
When author and journalist Scott Fayner was trying to decide what his next project would be, he looked around him. And saw dogs. Lots of dogs. That's because at the time, Fayner, now a Waltham resident, was working at a dog daycare facility. Talk about drawing inspiration from your daily life. Fayner said he grew up with dogs and knew a lot about dogs, so the idea just seemed natural to him. "I wanted to help children learn from a young age about breeds and their characteristics and energy levels, so when they grow up they'll have a better knowledge about which ones to choose," he said. Rex Trailer, a Boston TV icon who had been recovering from pneumonia recently, died on Jan. 9, according to his website. Trailer owned RTV Productions in Waltham at the corner of Moody and Main Streets, according to his website. “Rex Trailer left this earth peacefully last night surrounded in love and song by his family. Rex had been in Florida for the holidays when he became ill into the New Year. While everyone’s prayers and support have been of great comfort to Rex, he decided it was time to go home. Rex and family thank all of you and love you,” a statement on his website reads. Trailer hosted “Boomtown” a children’s show with a western theme on WBZ-TV from 1956-1974, according to WBZ-TV.
