Why Did Waltham Schools Parent Info Center Move? No Word
Waltham Public Schools Superintendent Susan Nicholson has not explained why she moved the PIC to Waltham High School.
A few details have emerged on the circumstances around moving the Waltham Public Schools' Parent Information Center to Waltham High School, but not a reason.
School and city officials had planned to move the PIC to the former South middle school, but without explanation, the school district moved it to Waltham High School last week.
In an Aug. 9, email to School Committee members, Waltham Public Schools Superintendent Susan Nicholson told the committee the availability of a room at the high school factored into her decision. Nicholson, in the email, does not directly explain why she made the move. Nicholson was unavailable last week for comment but forwarded the email to Waltham Patch.
"As a result of information we received at [a School Committee meeting] Room 110 at WHS is now available for one year, so that entered into my decision to move the PIC to WHS. Additionally, housing the PIC at WHS will provide me the opportunity to better understand the operations at the PIC," Nicholson wrote.
Nicholson also told School Committee members that even with the move, the PIC would need to a find new home next year.
