Which Waltham Roads Need Paving?
With state funding on its way, Waltham is slated to fix some roads -- but what areas need it the most?
With Gov. Deval Patrick signing the fiscal 2013 budget into law earlier this month, Chapter 90 highway funding is set to be dispersed out to communities to help repair roads and infrastructure.
Waltham, with 114.70 square miles of road, will receive $1,563,474 in fiscal 2013 Chapter 90 funds, according to the state's website.
According to the city budget, the city plans to spend $100,000 on street paving and dedicate the state's funds to paving as well.
Although the city has planned its fiscal 2013 road repairs in advance, we want to know, if you had control of the Chapter 90 funds what roads would you repair?

Trapelo Road. The uneven patches that run from Forest Street to Waverley Oaks Road make steering a challenge, and cause trucks to clatter all night long. Crosswalks have been covered over, and sidewalks are crumbling.

Today every City and Town streets NEEDS PAVING . Blame Electric Ana Gas company for digging up and not repaving the street. They get AWAY with it. Every City and Town is very Lax. The STREETS today are VERY bad. good Luck getting your syreet repaved.

Utility companies are not responsible for paving. A city government is.

A municipality can't stop a public utility from digging up a local roadway in the case of an emergency (e.g. gas leak). However, Waltham has an ordinance which prohibits anyone from excavating any roadway which has been rebuilt or resurfaced within the last three (3) years, unless they get special permission from the Waltham City Council. We very rarely give such permission.
