The City's annual Holiday Menorah Lighting...Please be consistent

Delighted to see a Menorrah lighting!

NWBL, was waiting for the first victim comment...I'm just asking for consistency. Call the 'Holiday' tree in Waltham, a Christmas Tree. If you are going to be politically correct, then be that consistently across the board.

I don't see consistency as the real issue here.You're just irked because you're getting a very small taste of how many non-Christians feel at this time of year. Slighted, left out, and sick to death of being deluged with Christmas ads, Christmas store displays, and decorations on public property for months.

I have to agree with Mike. It should be holiday if Christmas can't be called Christmas. Maybe it should be referred to as a holiday candle instead of menorah.

Come on you two, I'm sure you call it Christmas all the time and nobody stops you. And Mike, no I came to this board to commend the city for having a Menorah lighting. I saw your post and it sounded, as is the case with some people, begrudging that other religious groups are being acknowledged. And BTW years ago, before the PC era, my parents had a business and sent out holiday cards that said "Season's Greetings" to be sure and include all of their clients. It's a matter of decency. Too bad it rankles you. This is my last comment on the subject.

I don't understand why its called a holiday tree and not a christmas tree but the menorah is called a menorah. If the city is going to recognize hannukkah then why can't they say the word christmas?
