What Should Go Into This Waltham Storefront?
32 Warren St. in Waltham is ripe or a new tenant. What do you think should go in there?
For this week's Visions for Vacancies, we are at 32 Warren St.
The brick storefront is currently empty and needs a new tenant. The building sints on a busy street with plety of on-street parking. It is accesible by MBTA bus and other means of transportation. Despite it being listed as 32 Warren St., on the front of the building, it is listed as 14 Warren St. in city records.

Ok since it may not come up in the Visions for Vacancies I have a idea for the old Waltham Library little building near Kendedy Middle School. I think it would be cool or great if the city could but in a student run coffee/ice cream shop run buy Watham High Students. A franchise such as Brighams could go in there (it would be easier) the students could work it with an adult or adults (parents or non parents) managers. The students could learn the retail business. After the Middle Schoolers/high school students get out of school they can come get an icecream etc and hang out do some homework.... It should only be opened after 2:30 monday-friday. Good or No?

Alice, It is my understanding that a bakery was looking into this site. The owner of the building confirmed that to Jim Walker of the Tribune many months ago, but I have not heard any follow-up. That site is bigger than it looks as it has a full sized basement. The size was the reason that Johnson Paint moved, it was just too big for their needs. Ryan - Any chance you would be willing to check in with the owner regarding prospective tenants?

A local business would be best. A bakery/coffee shop or other eatery with healthy, high-quality food options would be great. I also live in the neighborhood and would love to have a local cafe or restaurant move in. I think that a lot of people who live in the vicinity would take advantage of a place like this within walking distance. I know I would.

It would be nice for a coffee/bakery to move into that spot. Watertown / Warrandale would be able to keep that a float. Think Bagel World on the North Shore, but down here instead.
Would be nice if they worked with the city to make parking there a little bit better. Narrow down the street, slow down traffic and do village / slanted parking. Safer for the neighborhood and increased foot traffic in the area.

Waltham needs a great bakery - not another coffee house. How about luscious cupcakes, like the Gingerbread House that's in Wakefield and Winchester?
