What Should Go Into Empty Waltham Building?

235 High St. needs a new tenant. What should go there?

This week's Visions for Vacancies brings us to 235 High St., the former site of Suburban Automatic Transmission.

The site is currently empty and sits in a commercial district of mostly non-retail stores. It is accesible by car and MBTA bus. Parking is available on residential side streets. Also, it sits on the Newton line.

What do you think should move into the location? Tell us what you think in the comments section.

About this column: A weekly column where we ask readers what they would like to see in empty Waltham storefronts. Related Topics: 235 High St. and Visions for Vacancies

Ryan, you have been running this segment for a while now. Out of curiosity, have any of the sites you featured been able to obtain new tenants?

Hi Tim,

That has not happened, to my knowledge. The point of the feature, however, is to have readers discuss what they want in the building.

Thanks Ryan. I am a frequent contributor of businesses I would like in the locations, was just looking to see if any developers have taken our advice. For example, I think that some variation of a bakery is suggested every week. To me that means that we could really use one in the Waltham. Understanding, however, that a bakery requires not just a good location, but also a baker that wants to start a business.

A very large and heavy wrecking ball should go into that building, repeatedly.
