What's Going On With Proposed Panera Bread in Waltham?
An update on the proposed second Panera Bread in Waltham.
Panera Bread proposed a second location in Waltham months ago, but what has happened since then?
Well, months after their June hearing for a special fast food permit to open a a new location at the new Main Street Marketplace at 1030 Main St., the city's Rules & Ordinance Committee and Panera Bread are asking for more time to review the application, according to city council records. No reason was immediately given for the request.
Panera Bread tweeted on Wednesday, Dec. 5, that it was aiming to open the new location in March, if "all goes according to plan."
More information may be revealed during the Monday, Dec. 10 City Council meeting.

Agreed. It's a Panera Bread not a dioxin factory. What could possibly be the big deal? The shopping center is already built. I understand opposition to the drive-thru.

It will be nice to have an alternative to Dunkin Donuts and greasy diners for coffee and a quick breakfast or lunch. And it looks the the drive-thru window exists but the driveway was landscaped over. My kids and I joked about walking up to the window to order during summer months. At this slow pace, that might be when they eventually open!

So Ryan, what happened at the City Council meeting? Not on TV due to power outage at WCAC.
