UPDATE, 11:02 a.m.: Starting at 2 p.m., limited MBTA subway and bus service will run on the Red, Orange, Blue lines between Orient Heights and Government Center, and Green Line between Kenmore and Lechmere, according to MBTA.com/weather.

Limited bus service will also operate on the 1, 23, 28, 39, and Silver Line Washington Street in Newton only.

Customers are encouraged to stay home and "use service sparingly," if possible, the website said.

Commuter rail routes will remain suspended through Sunday.

The MBTA weather update says regularly scheduled MBTA service will resume Monday morning.

“Customers should expect significant delays and plan extra time for their Monday morning commute as MBTA service recovers from the impacts of the storm. Due to significant snow accumulations, customers are encouraged to use caution at station platforms and bus stops,” the site says.

UPDATE, Sunday, Feb. 10, 8:45 a.m.: There is no official word on whether Waltham Public Schools will be held yet. Also, MBTA service has been suspended for today. 

The snow emergency/parking ban in Waltham will be lifted at 10 a.m. Motorists must have their cars out of Waltham Public School lots by 10 a.m., Chiasson said, in order for crews to clean the lots. Motorists must have their cars out of city-owned lots by Monday before regular parking hours in the lots resume.

UPDATE, 7 p.m.: The snow emergency in Waltham will be lifted at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, according to Consolidated Public Works Director Michael Chiasson.

Starting at 10 a.m., motorists will again be allowed to park their cars on the street, Chiasson said.

Also, motorists must have their cars out of Waltham Public School lots by 10 a.m., Chiasson said, in order for crews to clean the lots. Motorists must have their cars out of city-owned lots by Monday before regular parking hours in the lots resume.

UPDATE, 3:40 p.m.: As of 3:30 p.m., NStar was reporting 18 power outages in Waltham. 

Waltham appears to be faring the storm well. Moody Street and surrounding residential streets had been plowed and appear safe to travel. Most Moody Street stores were closed during an afternoon visit downtown. 

Many residents are out shoveling snow while others are walking to stores for provisions and walking home.

Saturday, Feb. 9, 10:15 a.m.: Waltham Patch users are reporting up to 25 inches of snow in Waltham. NStar is reporting 11 customers without power, down from 648 last night. Also, the driving ban is still in place, but officials say they will revisit it every few hours. Also, all MBTA service is suspended today.

Friday, Feb. 8

UPDATE, 10:45 p.m.: Waltham Firefighters just rescued a city worker from a Bobcat vehicle that rolloved over in front of the Waltham Police headquarters at 175 Lexington St., according to the Waltham Police twitter feed and scanner reports. A bucket loader was used to to push the vehicle upright. The worker is ok. 

UPDATE, 10:18 p.m.: According to Waltham Police, NStar has 600 customers in Waltham without power.

UPDATE, 9:45 p.m.: Waltham Patch users are now reporting around 10 inches of snow in Waltham and one even reported lightning. 

UPDATE, 7:30 p.m.: As of 7 p.m., Waltham Pathch readers were reporting around 4.5 inches of snow. Also, Waltham Police have reported no car crashes today. 

UPDATE, 6 p.m.: Roads sound slippery and dangerous, but regardless, Gov. Deval Patrick has banned travel on them until further notice. As the night descends on Waltham, please heed the rules and stay off the road. If you need a warm place to go, Shopper's Cafe on Moody Street is open until 1 a.m. and as long as they have power. 

Also, only NStar is reporting only one power outage in Waltham so far. Also, Waltham Patch user Matthew Carter reported 2.8 inches of snow at his home as of 5 p.m.
