Waltham Schools: No Details on Principal Resignation
Former Whittemore school principal Sara Lane resigned in January.
Despite repeated inquiries, Waltham Public School officials have not issued a specific explanation on the recent departure of former Henry Whittemore Elementary School principal Sara Lane.
Interim Human Resources Administrator George Frost told Waltham Patch that Lane recently resigned from the district, but said because the issue was a personnel matter, and he could not comment further.
“We don’t discuss those in public,” Frost said.
Waltham Public Schools Superintendent Susan Nicholson referred inquiries to Frost. Mayor Jeannette McCarthy told Waltham Patch she was aware there were personnel issues but that she had no further information on them.
Lane resigned from her post on Jan. 11 after less than a year on the job. No explanation was given. Prior to her 2012 appointment, former principal Deborah Butts resigned saying the school needed a "change in leadership."
Longtime Waltham educator Charles McInnis has been named interim principal as the district searches for a new permanent principal.

School Committee last night was very unprepared for the meeting. Many of the discussions couldn't get anywhere because one member or another hadn't seen any of the information. Once member didn't understand why the number of integrated pre-k classes are increasing. If you don't have a basic understanding of the integration rules (51/49), how are you supposed to be able to make decisions for this district. Also, nobody asked very basic questions. When Sup. N. suggested moving classes from one school to another, nobody even thought to ask if there was room at the school they wanted to move to (there isn't).
Very easy to lose faith in this group. I really wish they could give some reason to be optimistic, but they leave you feeling the exact opposite.

I don't see the real concern here. The principal is gone, let's focus on getting a new qualified individual for the long term. Unless there is a massive cover up of epic proportions let her pack up her desk and leave.

Frosty, you hit on the concern. We have been trying to hire qualified principals, but for a reason that is unknown to us, they don't stay very long. If there is a problem we should be trying to fix it rather than just accept a revolving door.

Two diff resignations huh? Same school?? The problem is not the new one you hire, the problem lies within, obviously the inmates are running the asylum over there
