I agree! My Lil one has to walk to & from Plympton and we live on Bacon. Where does she walk in the street?? Then I have to sit at work and pray that she gets to school then home safely and dry!!!!

Or figure out how these kids are supposed to get to their bus stops without having to walk down the middle of River Street and not get hit by a car.

Waltham has done a terrible job responding to this snow emergency compared to its surrounding cities. It is truly atrocious

The safety of our children is obviously not a priority....

Caughey and Bacon Streets are not ready for buses or walkers, and the elementary students only have an early release day anyway!

Watertown public schools are getting a two hour delay tomorrow morning while Waltham public schools are getting NOTHING. There are so many sidewalks that still need to be plowed! What are children supposed to do? Walk in the streets (which will be icy tomorrow morning)? This is absolutely ridiculous. Accidents are bound to happen.

When I went to Waltham schools, I walked barefoot on snow days to school!
WITHOUT a cell fone, I pad, Back pack, North Face attire, Nike sneakers, CAT boots
Dunkin Donuts and NO MacDonald's!

My husband walk the route my son would have to walk tomorrow and refuses to send him. When I call him in, I will tell them exactly why he will not be there.

I understand there is a process that must be carried out before a cancellation of school is made and the fact that it went through all personnel that it must, (including police, fire, etc.), and it wasn't called off is outrageous. The sidewalks are not plowed, forcing students to walk in the streets which are covered in snow and ice. The snow drifts and mounds at the corner of streets not only make it likely for a car accident to happen, but for a child to be hit when walking. These conditions are hardly ideal for a school day. I understand that these days must be made up, but as of now the schools have wiggle room since they started before Labor Day and seriously safety is the first priority. These people need to reconsider their decision because the city just is not in the necessary shape for school tomorrow.

Just look at the message currently at the top of the Waltham Public Schools website. They know they aren't ready to open the schools tomorrow:
"There is school tomorrow in Waltham. Please be patient with transportation as the schedule may be impacted because of the snow. As always, exercise caution driving and walking to school."
