Waltham Public Schools Closed Monday
Many Waltham roads are still in rough shape but crews are working on clearing snow.
Waltham Public Schools will be closed on Monday, Feb. 11, according to Waltham Mayor Jeanette McCarthy.
“After consultation with us, the [Waltham Public Schools] Superintendent is cancelling school for Monday, February 11th,” McCarthy wrote in an email to reporters.
McCarthy said the decision was made after consulting with Waltham Public Schools Safety Officer Ann Frassica, Consolidated Public Works Director Michael Chiasson and Waltham Public Schools Fiscal Coordinator John Pinzone.
“CPW will be working on clearing all the school parking lots once the cars are removed and school sidewalks,” McCarthy wrote.
The decision comes after many Waltham Patch readers, on Patch’s Facebook page, reported the city’s roads were in rough shape. on Sunday, Feb. 10

The roads in this city are completely unacceptable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where are the plows?!!!

"consolidated public works director" - sounds like this person has too many department's to oversee. Need to get this broken out so that someone can focus on the city snow clearing. Storm stopped on Saturday. 40 more hours before the kids had to be in school.

WORST job i've ever seen..You go to Watertown & Belmont and its plowed down to the pavement..No sand trucks..and havent seen many plows at all since Friday..

just walked to Main st, in Waltham; what a MESS! Aren't shop owners responsible to clear the
snow in front of their OWN Businesses? IF NOT, what shoddy business practices!
I did notice the sidewalks of the 2 major bars across from Hannifords were shoveled and READY for business!
I'll drink to that! :)

My boyfriend was driving around the South Side today (Sunday), and he said that the streets are an unplowed mess. Some of the side streets off Moody Street have ruts and mounds of snow in the middle -- poorly plowed or not plowed at all!

Ya I wonder why. Has anyone seen a supervisor around to check on the plows, cause I sure didn't. No leader ship mike time to step down you've done a terrible job. Seems like you know someone in the city. That's how you got the job right? I'm sure they can find you another job within just not in a leadership role cause your terrible.
