Waltham Police Officer Gets a Bird of a Surprise
The Waltham Police are trying to find the owner of a lost parrot an officer found in Waltham.
Officer Bill Wentworth was responding to a car crash when suddenly the conure (which is in the parrot family) caught his eye. The individuals involved in the crash were trying to coax him down from the roof of a house.
With the bird not cooperating, Wentworth went about his duties, but suddenly the bird changed his tune and flew down into Wentworth's cruiser and onto his shoulder, according to WHDH. Wentworth responded quickly. He rolled up his windows and radioed dispatch.
Later, Waltham Animal Control Officer Deana Gualtieri tried to communicate with the bird by whistling to it, calling it by potential names, but to no avail, according to WHDH.
The bird was not new to officers. It had been spotted on Sunday, Aug. 13, according to WHDH. Attempts to track down the bird's owner have been unsuccessful and the bird is currently with a foster family.
