Actually, I also know for a fact that these people are illegal. There are 20+ of them living in 4 1 bedroom units.

If they were illegal, the police station would have been the first to know and it would also have been written in the report. A lot of "these people" you say are illegal actually are here on Visa's, which makes them legal unless it expires. There actually hard workers and only a very few of them get into trouble. Whens the last time you saw someones name in the paper for being an illegal immigrant and helping some old lady across the street or shoveling the neighbors driveway. But "those people" have a lot of respect for the church and there elders and wont hesitate to lend a hand to anyone that needs it. Friend or stranger. If you had any idea what "those people" went thru in there own country you wouldnt talk the way you do. There here for the same thing you and I are, to make a better life for there families that they couldnt do anywhere else. There not stealing your job or taking the food off your table. Theres plenty of work out there for everyone, you have to want to work every day before you look for a job.

I live on this street and these people are scum. It was a nice quiet area before they moved in. They are constantly drunk and on the front porch blaring music, I have to keep my windows closed with the A/C on just to drown out the noise. Their cars don't have inspection or reistration stickes on them. I hope they get kicked out. I don't have a problem with immigrants as long as they do it the right way and become a part of the tax paying community.

The point is that a man nearly killed his wife and was arrested for it. Let's hope he gets punished accordingly and his wife gets the help she needs to start a new life free of abuse.

As for your nonsense about the 'nanny state', please realize that helping people when they run into trouble is the best way to keep a country's economy strong. People who are starving and homeless don't contribute to a healthy economy. When given aid, 100% of that money goes back into the economy - and most of it gets spent at local businesses. Please find another information source than the one you currently use and look at the whole picture before you type another comment... we'll all thank you for it!
