Waltham Home Damaged After Lightning Strike; Nobody Injured
The lightning strike in Waltham occurred at 10 Maple St.
Nobody was injured on Monday, June 25 when lightning struck an apartment building at 10 Maple St., according to the Waltham Fire Department website.
The three people in the building were evaluated but all refused treatment, according to the department. No firefighters or civilians were injured.
At around 10:20 a.m., two 911 callers reported lightining had struck the building accorind go the fire department. Once they arrived, firefighters discovered the lightning had blown out an interior wall after it travelled down through the roof.
The lightning caused a small amount of charring, according to the fire department. Firefighters later used a thermal camera to ensure any damage had not gone beyond the third floor.
Damage to the building is estimated at $25,000 and the building's owner has arranged for repairs. The electricial system had to be shut down the city's wire inspector and building department was called to the scene.
