Waltham Girl In Surgery For Injuries From Being Struck By Car

11-year-old Waltham girl seriously injured this morning.

The 11-year-old Waltham girl on Main Street, is currently undergoing surgery for her injuries, according to .

The girl, whose name police did not release, is being treated for serious injuries at Massachusetts General Hospital, according to a Waltham Police press release. She sustained injuries to her head and upper body.

After a preliminary investigation, police determined a 29-year-old woman driving her vehicle westbound near 1083 Main St., struck the girl who was attempting to cross Main Street in a marked crosswalk, according to police. The driver of the vehicle is not from Waltham, police said.

The Waltham Police Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident.
