Waltham Dog Finds His 'Forever Home'
Quincy, a 2-year-old black lab, found a happy home in Charlestown.
A Waltham dog under threat of being shipped back to an Indiana shelter has found his "forever home."
Quincy, a 2-year-old black lab living with a foster family in Waltham and featured on Patch earlier this week, has been adopted by a Charlestown man, according to Mary Schwager, a volunteer with Lucky Lab, who rescued Quincy.
Schwager said the Charlestown man did not want publicity and wished to remain anonymous.
As of yesterday, the Charlestown man had agreed to adopt Quincy, but had not yet picked him up, according to Schwager. Lucky Lab has vetted the man and deemed him OK to adopt the canine, Schwager said.
“The dog will be a chick magnet,” Schwager joked.
Schwager said she was unsure whether the Patch story led to the dog's adoption, but did say the story helped in another way. Many Patch readers, however, commented on the original story saying they hoped he got adopted.
"By you posting the story about Quincy …[and sharing it on other Web sites] it's going to help save other dogs [from people applying to adopt other dogs]."
